2024 Staff Profiles
Manager
Petra Daly joined KTA as manager in November 2022. She has been working in the community and voluntary sector for 29 years. In that time Petra has worked in the area of Traveller mental health suicide awareness and in family support and youth work in Ireland, England, India and Africa. Petra has a degree from Maynooth University and a Masters in Applied Social Studies, also from Maynooth university. She is passionate about the work and her allyship with Travellers and believes that together we can create change for the better.
Finance administrator
Jodie Cullen joined KTA as our finance administrator in March 2023. Having worked in other Traveller organisations and with banking experience she brings a wealth of experience to KTA and has been instrumental in ensuring the organisations systems and financial procedures are strongly adhered to.
Health Section
Liz O Brien took up the post as Primary health Care Coordinator in January 2023. With over 30 years of experience working with Travellers in Dublin and Wicklow Liz brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her role as Primary Health Care Coordinator.
Primary Healthcare Team
Brigid O’Brien has been a community health worker for the last 6 years.
Bridget Cawley has been a community health worker for over 16 years.
Bridget Dooley O’Brien has been a community health worker for over 16 years.
Louise O’Brien joined KTA as a community health worker in November 2022 and has been working to develop her knowledge skills and role with the support of the team.
Samantha Walsh joined KTA as a community health worker in December 2023 and is looking forward to getting to know the work of KTA and getting involved in organising women’s groups and activities.
Community Development Team
Donna O Donnell joined KTA in January 2023 as a full time Community Development worker. As a volunteer in her community for many years, Donna has been delivering cultural awareness sessions to students in Maynooth University for over 7 years. As a result of engagement in a workplace experience programme in CKLP, Donna was supported to access a full-time position with KTA to continue her long-term goals.
Katie Doherty joined the team in 2023 on a community employment scheme. She has been working with Donna supporting the work of KTA organising groups and events and is our go to poster designer.
Ann O’Donnell joined the team in 2023 on a community employment scheme and stepped down from our Board of Directors. She has been an activist in her community for years and is interested in developing work on domestic abuse in KTA and supporting female empowerment.
Education team
Coordinator Aoife Bond joined the education team in August 2023. She is a primary school teacher and in the short time she has been in post has made tremendous strides in supporting Traveller’s access to education.
James Stokes was employed as a peer education worker in August 2023. Having just completed his Leaving Certificate and taking up a place in Maynooth University James will be involved in developing a mentoring programme for young Travellers to help them to stay in school.
Julieann McCann was employed as a peer education worker in August 2023. Juliann is passionate about creating change for Traveller’s education.
